Travel with the reminders you already set
Before you leave, match packages to your med list, fix days and times to match what you are supposed to follow, and keep notifications allowed. Smart Meds Reminder does not shift doses for a new time zone automatically.
In-app steps
- Open the meds list. For each medicine you will pack, tap View or Edit and match the card to the box or blister in your hand.
- On Edit Medicine, keep Medicine name as on the package. In Description, add a packing note if you want (which bag or pocket) - not dosing advice.
- Optional: tap Add Attachment, then Camera or Gallery, so you can compare the package on this phone later.
- Check Schedule days and the times on the list. If those times no longer match what you follow, use Add time or remove a time, then tap Save. The app does not invent a travel schedule for you.
- On the home list, if you see the warning Never miss a dose with notification status Not Granted, allow notifications in the system prompt so reminders can show.
- On Android 12 and newer, allow exact alarms when the app or system asks. You can also open Settings → Test Notifications to check notification and exact-alarm status. There is no separate in-app switch labeled Enable Notifications.
- Optional file copy before you leave: Settings → Export / Import → Export Database → Share. That JSON holds meds and schedules. Intake history is not in the file. Import on another phone replaces that phone's list. Package photos are not a reliable part of the shared file.
Limitations
- No automatic time-zone or jet-lag dose shifting. Times stay as the clock times you saved; edit them yourself when you need different ones.
- No travel mode, pharmacy shipping, or OCR packing-list builder. Scan text with camera only fills Medicine name or Description.
- Export is optional logistics, not a full history backup. See the backup medication reminder data guide for replace-on-import and file limits.
- Photos help on this device; do not expect them to restore cleanly from the shared JSON on a second phone.

FAQ
Does the app shift doses for a new time zone?
No. There is no automatic time-zone dose shifting. If you need different clock times, open Edit and set Schedule days and times yourself, then Save - using your own instructions, not an app suggestion.
Should I export before a trip?
Optional. Settings → Export / Import → Export Database → Share saves a local JSON copy of meds and schedules. Intake history is not in that file. Import replaces the list on the phone that imports.
Can OCR build my travel packing list?
No. Scan text with camera only pastes into Medicine name or Description. You still check packages against the list and set the schedule yourself.
