Use custom categories to organize medications
Categories in Smart Meds Reminder are organization labels: weekdays or a custom string you type. Use them to sort household logistics, not to encode clinical conditions.
In-app steps
- Open Add or Edit medication.
- Pick a weekday category when that grouping helps, or choose custom and enter customCategory text.
- Save. The list can aggregate custom names for filtering/organization.
- Remember that Clone resets category fields - re-apply labels after cloning.
Limitations
- Categories are not medical coding systems.
- Clone clears category/customCategory.
- Free med count still limits how many labeled items you keep.
Smart Meds Reminder is a medication reminder and log. It is not medical advice and does not replace a qualified clinician or pharmacist.
FAQ
What category types exist?
MedCategory includes weekday enums plus CUSTOM with a customCategory string.
Do categories sync to the cloud?
No. They are fields on locally stored meds unless you export JSON.
Can categories replace a clinical condition field?
No. Do not store clinical conditions as if the app were an EHR. Keep labels logistical.
