Get a reminder before the pack expires
Store the printed expiration date on a medicine in your list, set how many days ahead to nudge you, and save. This is household logistics - not advice about whether a medicine is still safe after that date.
Add the medicine first
- Open the Meds list.
- Tap New Med, or open an existing card and choose Edit Med.
- Fill Medicine name and Form as on the package. Optional: set Package Amount if you also track how much is left - that field is separate from the expiration date.
Store the expiration date and days before
Expiration date reminders are available with Premium.
- On the same Add or Edit screen, tap Select Expiration Date and pick the printed date from the package. Use Clear in the picker if you need to remove it.
- In Notify Before, enter how many Days ahead you want the nudge.
- If you set one side, fill the other too - date and days go together - then tap Save.
You can leave both fields empty and still save the medicine. The expiration pair is optional logistics on top of the dose schedule.
When the reminder fires
With the medicine active and notifications allowed, you get an alert titled Expiration Date Approaching on the day you chose under Notify Before, and again on the expiration day itself. There is no alert every day in between.
Optional: on Package Status, a saved date shows as Expiration Date. Quantity tracking and low-stock alerts are a different job - see track medicine package remaining.
Limitations
- The app does not say whether a medicine is safe to take after the printed date. Store the date; follow your leaflet or ask a pharmacist or clinician for clinical questions.
- Camera text scan does not read the expiration date - it only helps with name or notes.
- No pharmacy refill, discard service, or automatic “throw away” rule.
- Reminders are on the chosen days-before day and on expiry day - not a daily countdown for every day in the window.

FAQ
Does the app alert every day until the pack expires?
No. You get a reminder on the day you chose under Notify Before, and again on the expiration day itself - not every day in between.
Can the camera read the expiration date from the package?
No. Scan text with camera only helps with Medicine name or notes. You enter the printed expiration date yourself.
Does this tell me if an expired medicine is safe to take?
No. The app stores the printed date and can remind you. It does not say whether a medicine is safe after that date - follow your package leaflet or ask a pharmacist or clinician.
